All of our Group Fitness classes welcome participants of all fitness levels, from beginner to advanced. Although our instructors are able to provide modifications and/or variations to accommodate our participants, it is crucial for you as the participant to be aware of your limits and listen to your body’s current abilities and needs. We recommend new participants to ask questions and to notify the instructor of any previous injuries or conditions that may limit or increase the risk of injury. How do you sign up for a Group Fitness class? 

  • The staff members at the Dugan's Welcome Desk will put out a binder and cards 15 minutes prior to the class beginning.
  • You will sign in on the numbered lines in the binder, and you will receive a corresponding number card
  • Once the class begins, the instructor will take up the numbered cards and return them to the Welcome Desk.
    *Only one card is allowed per person signing up
    **If you do not receive a card, you cannot participate in the class
  • Please note that each class is capped at 20 people and there won't be any late admittance.

Group Fitness offers a variety of classes that provide a safe and structured workout. Each class is led by a certified instructor. Group Fitness classes are available to current students, Faculty and Staff and alumni (with Rec Center Memberships) at no additional charge. Registration is not required, but space is limited.

 


Every class is taught at an Intermediate Level and modifications are offered to regress or progress the movements. 

Class Descriptions

Sunrise Spin - A high energy, 45 minute cardio workout in which you can burn 400-600 calories or more per class! The instructor motivates you to bike at various resistances through different courses of hills, flat roads, jumps, sprints and a fun arm-track with weights to break up the leg-work! Open to all fitness levels.

Swole Cycle - offers heart-pumping cardio and weight training in one! This class will go through challenging interval training on the spin bike while increasing musical strength with off-the-bike exercises. Grab your sneakers and towel, and come ride it out to energy blasting music! (Please arrive 5 minutes early to set up bikes and equipment)

YogaJoin this class for a quicker moving class that syncs movement with breath. Whether you're new to yoga or are an experienced yogi, this class offers variations for all poses.

Zumba - Come relieve some stress and get your cardio on! Zumba is a fun, energetic, cardio workout with upbeat Latin, International, and hip-hop music. Easy-to-follow choreography made for all fitness levels. No dance experience required.

Zumba Toning - Come get your groove on while learning ways to tone up! This is a fun, yet challenging class. Come dance with us!

Floor Core - Core strength is essential to your overall fitness. Take this 20-30 minute class to improve your core strength and definition with this intense abdominal workout. From basic abdominal exercises to powerful techniques, this workout will strengthen your upper, lower, and oblique abdominal muscles. Get ready to plank!

Circuit Training - This fast-paced class will incorporate interval training and fun weightlifting movements. You will learn new movements and challenge yourself in different ways in every class.

Strong - Learn to move to th beat while incorporating bodyweight movements, cardiovascular training, and musical endurance.

Killer Cardio - This is a high-intensity, cardio-based class that will challenge and change you! COme get your sweat ON! 

Afternoon Pump - COme learn how to integrate weights into your workout while lifting to a tempo. Come get your pump on!

 


Group Fitness Rewards Program

Stay tuned for when this program will begin!

The Group Fitness Rewards Program is a way to reward you for all of your hard work. It works by signing up in the Recreational Sports office (DWC 115) to receive a card with 15 numbered spots on it. When you attend a group fitness class,your instructor will stamp your card. 1 class = 1 stamp. When you fill all 15 spots on your card any time between the start date and end date of the program, you can redeem your card in the Rec Sports Office for a free "Stronger Through Group Fitness" T-shirt!

12 Rounds of cardio kickboxing fight club style!
Body beat down boxing and championship kickboxing mixed with strength and cardio.

KPOP Zumba with Victoria 

Come dance and sweat off the stress!
A night of Zumba to get the heart beat rising and movements made for everyone. 

 


Group Fitness Extravaganza
