Group & Functional Fitness

All of our Group & Functional Fitness classes welcome participants of all fitness levels, from beginner to advanced. Although our instructors are able to provide modifications and/or variations to accommodate our participants, it is crucial for you as the participant to be aware of your limits and listen to your body’s current abilities and needs. We recommend new participants to ask questions and to notify the instructor of any previous injuries or conditions that may limit or increase the risk of injury. How do you sign up for a Group Fitness class? 

Virtual classes will live via WebEx.

To register:
1. Go to rs.tamucc.edu
2. When you’re there, click “log in” on the top right-hand corner. Click the Islander ID button. Sign in using your TAMU-CC username and password.
3. Once logged in, click on the group fitness icon.
4. Click which virtual class you’d like to register for, add to cart and check out.
*Please note that class times won’t show up on the website until 5 days before.

Group Fitness offers a variety of classes that provide a safe and structured workout. Each class is led by a certified instructor. Group Fitness classes are available to current students, Faculty and Staff and alumni (with Rec Center Memberships) at no additional charge.

 


Every class is taught at an Intermediate Level and modifications are offered to regress or progress the movements. 

Class Descriptions

YogaJoin this class for a quicker moving class that syncs movement with breath. Whether you're new to yoga or are an experienced yogi, this class offers variations for all poses.

Zumba - Come relieve some stress and get your cardio on! Zumba is a fun, energetic, cardio workout with upbeat Latin, International, and hip-hop music. Easy-to-follow choreography made for all fitness levels. No dance experience required.

Strong - A combination of plyometrics, muscular conditionin and cardio all synced to a beat for a great workout.

Chiseled Circuit - This fast-paced class will incorporate interval training and fun weightlifting movements. You will learn new movements and challenge yourself in different ways in every class.
